Hart Group and SIME

Hart Group is pleased to provide services to AZM for Social Impact Monitoring and
Evaluation. Suitable monitoring is a critical element of the programme for regeneration
of mining areas.

Hart Group has a wealth of knowledge of the Romanian mining areas, through its past social impact monitoring work. Hart Group is pleased to associate again with CURSSA with whom the previous Social Impact Monitoring project was successfully completed. Specialists from the Vienna Survey Centre, which previously participated as a separate entity, are now integrated into Hart Group. This arrangement maximises continuity in monitoring.

We associate for this project with the Institute of Sociology of the Romanian Academy and the Research Institute for Quality of Life; both are repositories of significant experience of social analysis in Romania and have previous experience in mining areas. Internationally, we are pleased that the Brandenburg Technological University also participates in the consortium, with its experience of mining restructuring in Germany.

Training, in our view, is an extremely important component of this project, as it holds the key to longer term capacity development of AZM, providing skills that will last beyond the limited duration of this present project, with the aim of ongoing sustainability.
